Cole's Hearth Room: A Culinary Gem in Palmyra, MO

Remember Date Night? After five months of staying in (99 percent of the time), we decided to try a new restaurant in Palmyra. We’ve been taking short road trips, mainly to get out of the house. One day, we explored Palmyra, and noticed a beautiful old building with the sign “Cole’s Hearth Room.” I googled it and learned a young couple from St. Louis bought the Old Stone House in order to convert to a restaurant. Sadly, the virus hit, and they pushed back opening until July. How brave is it to open a restaurant during a Pandemic? We went Monday evening. Wait staff was attractively outfitted, and all wearing masks. There is covered outside seating, which is where we opted to dine. And the food? What a lovely surprise. Both our entrees, Salmon with bourbon glaze, topped with fried collard greens and Chicken Marsala, were excellent. Vegetables perfectly cooked. Good wine and bar list. And we met like-minded dining souls on the veranda. On the way back to our car, we introduced ourselves to owners, Coltin and Deirdra, who were adorable. It’s well worth a short trip to experience the fine dining the Coles are offering.

An amazing venue, great food, and even better service!! Kristy made our dinner so fun and all of her recommendations were spot on!! Olivia was great too! 10/10 will go again, and very soon!! Best dinner spot in Palmyra/near Hannibal!!

First time trying this place and I will say it was amazing. the food was great I had the urban cowboy and my girlfriend had the chicken Alfredo. The service was amazing Kristy B. Was fabulous with her recommendation of wine and food choices I will definitely be back.

We had the best time celebrating our anniversaries! We had the best service with Audrey and Parker!! She was very knowledgeable of the items and so sweet, Parker kept our waters filled up! Our drinks were delicious especially the cherry! The food came out hot and stayed very warm till the last bite! The crème brûlée was amazing!! We will return!

We have been seeking new restaurants to enjoy date night experiences in the Midwest . This restaurant came up on a search and reading the reviews ahead it looked to be a great choice . We called the day of and we were able to make reservations for 2 the same evening . Parking at night was a little tricky for first time but it was well lit and had upper and a lower level parking . We were greeted immediately by the bartender/host after walking in and offered a bar menu . We were able to order a drink and seated by our reservation time . Everyone that had contact with us from beginning to end of service was friendly . We ordered drinks, appetizers, salads, entrees . Everything we had was amazing . My favorite was the crab cake for appetizers and the sweet potatoes on the side . I would recommended visiting this restaurant and we plan to make it a date night favorite choice .

Cozy atmosphere, so glad my sister made us reservations. It was a little pricey but the food was amazing. You can’t go wrong with the fillet and half lobster tail. Definitely a great place to try at least once, but I’m sure you’ll want to return.
